To foster effective communication and collaboration between early-career natural and social scientists from the Americas, the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and the University of Miami (UM) are implementing a Summer Institute on Interdisciplinary Science in the Americas. This IAI/UM joint-venture receives full financial support from the United States' National Science Foundation.

The Summer Institute 2001 has now ended. The University of Miami and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research want to express their gratitude to all participants, guest speakers, project coordinators and Institute leaders for makiung the Institute 2001 a great success. We gratefully acknowledge UNESCO and CATHALAC for helping us design and organize this Institute.
Lecture notes and other materials for the Institute 2001 will remain available through this site for the foreseeable future.
