Mission:

The RSMAS Ocean Technology Group provides technical and personnel support for sea-going experiments locally, nationally, and around the globe. This group works closely with Principal Investigators from RSMAS and from other institutions worldwide.

 The tasks in support of these experiments include:

• Maintenance, repair and calibration of instruments
• Design, manufacture and testing of mooring components
• Deployment and recovery of instrument packages from ships
• Data retrieval and quality control after recovery
• Preparation of data reports and data submittal to national data centers

Our group utilizes a large assortment of instrumentation, including:

• Aanderaa Current Meters (AACM)
• Vector-Averaging Current Meters (VACM)
• Vector-Measuring Current Meters (VMCM)
• Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP)
• Palace Floats
• Ocean Surface Current Radar (OSCR)
• Micro-turbulence sensors
• CODE surface drifters
• SeaBird CTDs
• TSKA temperature sensors
• Subsurface float ballasting
